Any Software Ideas? Get in touch!

 Steve and Feng

I am a software development specialist and I’ve held many different positions such as developer, analyst programmer, technical lead, team lead, project manager and software architect. I work with Microsoft technologies for the most part. I have been in the software development business for over 15 years and even longer than that if I count in the time before that when it was a hobby and I had the 6502 and Z80 instruction sets etched into my brain and I don’t mean the mnemonic codes, I mean the hexadecimal codes! Well, microporcessors were a bit simpler back then, and my brain had more of its cells in tact!

Currently I am based in Bangkok, Thailand, where I am in the process of starting a small ISV business, taking advantage of the lower costs here.

I don’t yet know what software product my ISV business will be developing! I am still very much in the brain storming and research phase at the moment and aim to have a concrete product idea by the end of this year ready to start design and development on.

My interests centre on software development tools, methodologies, languages and frameworks mainly for enterprise level application development.

Ideally the product I eventually develop will be some kind of software development tool or framework, simply because that is what I know most about and because these are the things that I have the most ideas about! However I am not ruling out producing a consumer software product either.

So, if you have any good ideas you are willing to share - please get in touch.

I am financing this business from my own funds and part of the reason I am based in Thailand is that my funds will stretch an awful lot further than they would back in London. About five times as far in fact! The business will become viable at a much lower income level. As an ISV doing business exclusively over the internet, the location of the operation is not really an issue either. Apart from the cost benefit I also get a climate I can live with for free!

I dislike the cold and the grey and despite being a native Londoner, I don’t especially enjoy living in London. I love the sunshine and warm weather too much for that. I love the beautiful beaches and Islands here in Thailand, many of which are very easily accessible from Bangkok. I usually take off for the beach at the weekends! I also love the vibrancy and bustle of Bangkok itself, not to mention the food. I like the Thai people too - for the most part!
