If you have an idea for a software product or service and would like it to see it developed into a commercial reality then please get in touch with me. You can leave a comment with your details – I will get in contact with you. Please feel free to email me or call me, Stephen Edwards:

We can then discuss the idea and look at its commercial viability.

I am looking at ideas that can be developed by a small ISV business (Independent Software Vendor). If you’ve not come across the term “ISV” business, then see these links for a definition:

I am very much looking at developing something that will ultimately generate revenue either directly or indirectly from related activity generated by the product or service. By that I mean that perhaps the product or service is itself provided for free but generates, for example, billable consultancy activity or has customization requirements that are paid for. It may be that revenue is generated by selling a supporting book even! There are many models that might be applied. This will largely depend on what the product or service is and who it is aimed at.

So, don’t worry if you can’t think of how your idea might generate revenue for the moment – there are many possible ways of doing that, and that is something we would look at early on.

The idea might be aimed at corporate customers or it might be a consumer product idea, or both.

Your idea may not be new. Perhaps your idea is about providing a better or different way of doing something compared to an existing product or service. In many respects, this is an advantage because there is an established marketplace. A product idea that has no existing market can be a very difficult and risky venture, especially for an ISV.

It doesn’t have to be an idea with mass appeal. It could be an idea aimed at a niche market. Money can be made from niche markets and in fact niche markets are ideal markets for an ISV. Products with mass appeal tend to attract the very big players with bug budgets and that can be very risky for an ISV.

As a software development professional, I am naturally interested in ideas for software development tools, particularly for the .NET environment, because that is what I do and that is what I know most about. I am open to any ideas in this area too.
